Most Barrie homes are selling in about five weeks right now. According to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB), the average Barrie listing sold in 35 days in August 2026, and the average for the first eight months of the year was 36 days.
The type of home makes a difference. In August 2026, condo townhouses in Barrie sold the fastest, in an average of 23 days. Detached homes took about 37 days, and condo apartments took about 40.
Selling also does not end when you accept an offer. Once a deal is firm, the closing date is usually set somewhere between 30 and 90 days out, depending on what the buyer and seller agree to. So from listing day to moving day, many Barrie sellers should plan for two to four months.
A few things can speed up a sale or slow it down:
- Price. A home priced in line with recent Barrie sales gets more showings early, when interest is highest.
- Condition. Clean, well-kept homes that need little work tend to sell sooner.
- Marketing. Buyers shop online first. Strong photos, a video tour and a dedicated listing page help a home stand out from the hundreds of other Barrie listings.
- Season. Spring is usually the busiest time of year, but fall and winter bring fewer competing listings.
